Working it
I love shooting commercials.
It’s fast paced, the money is good and crafty is excellent. In fact, if I’m not physically needed in front of the camera, I’m at the craft table snacking and sipping coffee. That’s where you’ll find most actors to be honest, the old adage of the starving artist comes to mind.
I’ve met some of my best friends on commercial sets and have had some memorable experiences on set, from sea sickness to being strapped into a gimbal and spun at a high velocity in the air to simulate free falling. I’ve trekked into the mountains and been flown across the country.
The only slightly horrible thing about commercials are the castings. Sometimes, not always. But they make you do some strange stuff.
I have had some of my most embarrassing experiences, as a human being, in the casting room for commercials. The things they sometimes make you do is astounding and often what you do in the room, is never what you do on the day. However, it is part of the experience and it’s a place where you can quickly push yourself and explore your craft.
The video in this post includes a collection of shots from commercials I have had the privilege to be involved in.
Happy watching!
